Upon doing some research the other day about travel, I came across this fun interactive map that allows you to highlight all the countries you have visited in the world. I discovered that I have only visited 7% of the world’s countries! Only 7%!
Well I deem this quite poor – and so I will be aiming to improve this percentage by a considerable amount in the future.
I need to create my bucket list. I have been meaning to make one for quite a long time now, but I get easily distracted and there is so much I want to do, I just end up constantly adding to it mentally.
I have managed to already achieve some of things that were on my (mental) bucket list:
- – See the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), Norway
- – Go on Safari (Kenya)
- – Visit Yellowstone National Park (where I saw 4 grizzly bears and a wolf!)
- – Climb a volcano (Mt Vesuvius, Naples, Italy)
- – Climb a waterfall (Jamaica)
- – Party in Ibiza (10 days is way too long!)
- – Hike into the Grand Canyon (and I saw the sunrise and sunset)
- – Roller blade along Venice beach, true California-girl style wearing short shorts
I’m sure there are a few others but these are the main ones. It’s quite an impressive little list so far. I am lucky to have had these opportunities! But I want to keep going, to keep experiencing all that nature has to offer, to live in different countries and experience a new culture. I want to open my eyes!
I have lived on the small (and I mean small!) island of Jersey, Channel Islands, pretty much my whole life. The word bubble could not be a more appropriate word to describe Jersey. And so I feel the want and need to get away, to spread my wings and fly. I don’t think I will ever live in Jersey, there isn’t much there for me illustration wise anyway. Travel is my horizon. I just need to get this last year of university over and done and get out into the world. And improve on that 7%!!
